CRANSTON, R.I., April 3, 2023 – Mearthane Products Corporation (MPC) announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Whitefield Plastics Corporation (WPC), a manufacturer and provider of high-performance polyurethane products used primarily in the energy sector, based in Houston, Texas. The purchase of WPC follows the company’s strategic acquisitions of Merritt Precision Products (MPP), of Apex, NC, in February 2023, Precision Elastomers Inc. (PEI), of Ipswich, MA, in December 2022, and Snyder Plastics (SPI), of Bay City, MI, in May 2022.
WPC specializes in custom formulated and manufactured products that are used in critical applications in the onshore and offshore energy exploration and extraction industry. In addition to patented and proprietary products used in traditional energy markets, WPC’s products are increasingly being specified into the renewable energy space as well. “WPC expands MPC’s footprint both geographically and into end markets that are new to us,” said Pete Kaczmarek, CEO of MPC. “Their ISO-9001-certified manufacturing facility broadens our capabilities to manufacture very large and complex parts and adds to our growing list of proprietary material formulations. In particular, WPC has developed unique urethane formulations that can withstand extremely high temperatures and pressures seen in energy applications.”
Bill Whitefield, President and Owner of WPC, will work closely with the MPC team to ensure a smooth transition for customers and employees. Bill’s father, Don Whitefield, founded WPC in 1961, setting a strong foundation for long-term growth. Thanks to Don and Bill’s leadership, WPC has become a preferred supplier to some of the energy industry’s largest service companies and OEMs. “We are delighted to become a part of MPC’s growing team and look forward to continuing our business growth story.” WPC’s team and operations will remain in its custom-built 28,000sqft facility in Houston, TX. Robert Navarrete, a current WPC employee, will remain the facility’s General Manager, reporting to Mr. Kaczmarek.
